The Skinny on Working 9-5

So I guess I have entered the "real world" with my first big girl job this summer - full time, desk job, 9-5.
Andddd it's hard!
I no longer can sleep in on summers, go lay out for an hour or so, or work out when ever I want.

Now don't get me wrong, I love working where I work - for Les Mills East Coast headquarters

and the pay checks are pretty nice too ;)

Les Mills is an awesome company that really creates the best experience for group fitness.. training, tips, routines, music, keywords, and on-site customer service help whenever needed. If you haven't tried BODYPUMP you should run to your nearest certified gym ASAP!!!

Anyways, I am sitting for 8 hours everyday and I can see how it has taken a toll on me in such a short time, and how it is so easy to fall into a work, eat, sleep slump all week long.

BUT DON'T!!!

I try little tips every day to keep my body going and feeling healthy/happy/exercised, and you can too.
Hey, every thing helps!

1. Drink up. Suck down water like you are in a desert. Seriously more water means more bathroom breaks which means  more getting up and moving from your desk. The natural cleansing water gives your body doesn't hurt much either.

(This picture just makes you want to chug!!)

I try to drink 1 liter of water before lunch, 1 liter during lunch, and 1 liter after lunch before I leave. At first, I was like helllll no this is way too much h2o, but now I'm finding myself drinking up to 2 liters before lunch like it's nothin.
(my bladder says otherwise)

2. Ditch the chair. If possible, replace your chair with a yoga ball! Luckily, Les Mills is a fitness company which encourages an active lifestyle, so we have exercise equipment every which way.
If that is not the case for you, bring your own in!
And if coworkers would look at you like you had seven eyeballs and a mo-hawk, try simple exercises at your desk throughout the day.

Kegels and core-squeezers are good too!

3. Eat well. Pack your lunch with healthy foods that keep you full and energized for a long time.
My go-to lunch is a spinach salad with chopped onions, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocado slices. My favorite is to top it off with an onion vinaigrette:
packing the dressing in a separate container until I'm ready to feast and shake my salad up.

4. Do a lap. Take time to get outside on a lunch break or during the afternoon to step outside and walk around the block or so. It really does some good - helping to refresh the mind and re-focus.

5. Be happy and make a difference! :)
